Puppy Preschool

Puppy Preschool

It is critical for the development of a happy, well behaved dog, that a puppy begins the correct training and socialisation at an early age.  It has been shown that the key time for puppies to learn to socialise appropriately with other dogs is before 16 weeks of age.

Our courses aim to expose puppies to new experiences in a safe and controlled enviroment.  As an owner we help you to have a better understnading of how your canine friend thinks, allowing training to develop a well behaved dog in your family and home enviroment.

Topics covered include:

  1. socialisation with dogs, children and adults
  2. sit and drop when asked
  3. initial lead walking
  4. initial recalls
  5. positive reinforcement training
  6. handling and grooming
  7. toilet training
  8. bite inhibition
  9. preventing and solving simple behaviour problems
  10. health care advice
  11. nutrition advice

Conductiing these preschools is Annie Tamblyn who has recently joined the team at Bulimba. Annie is an experienced dog handler and trainer.

We take puppies from 7-15 weeks of age, as long as they have started a vaccination programme.

The course runs as follows:

  • Downstairs at the practice at 154 Hawthorne Road, Hawthorne
