Arthritis
ARTHRITIS
Arthritis is a common ailment amongst ageing pets. It’s usually the result of swelling and inflammation of the joints and is often accompanied by pain, heat, stiffness and immobility.
Joints can deteriorate as a result of stress and trauma caused by an accident and occasionally an infection can lead to the destruction of joint tissue and cartilage.
SIGNS OF ARTHRITIS
• Stiffness
• walking slower
• reluctance to play
• Inability to climb stairs or to rise
• yelping or flinching
• attitude or behaviour changes
Tick Alert
Every year dogs and cats in Brisbane die from Tick Paralysis. Ticks Breed in high grass, bush-land and parks (including dog parks), and especially near creeks. Their natural hosts are the Bandicoot and Possum. The months of highest risk are usually September - April. We have already seen an increased number of Tick Poisonings this year and we expect the numbers to be greater than usual due to the high amount of rainfall we experienced at the start of the year.
