DR MACARENA SANCHEZ DE MOVELLAN MORALE

Rehab Manager & Practitioner

​Macarena graduated from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain) in 2014. She completed an internship in animal rehab whilst at university, and was granted a scholarship for research in the Department of Animal Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation. Macarena worked as a small animal veterinarian before moving to Australia, but she decided it was time to pursue her dream job and work in this field full time. She has continued her studies and obtained certification in laser therapy, acupuncture and chronic pain management and has completed the Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner course through the University of Tennessee.

DR SIMONE FLINT

Rehab Veterinarian

Simone graduated from the University of Queensland in 1997 and has worked in small animal clinics ever since. In recent years, wanting to be able to offer our geriatric patients and those who have sustained injuries more support and better treatment options, Simone began her postgraduate study into Canine Rehabilitation. She has been trained in laser use and is currently completing a CCRP course.

 

Simone says “It is so fulfilling being a part of a multidisciplinary team. Collaboration between specialist surgeons, general practitioners, rehabilitation therapists and our amazing, committed owners allows us to achieve the very best outcome for their small animal friends. We alleviate pain and work together to aid return to the best function possible and ensure excellent quality of life.”

DR LAURA DOUGAN

Rehab Veterinarian

Laura is a qualified Veterinarian with over 14 years experience. During her career she has developed a particular interest in the treatment of chronic pain and the effects of muscle and joint injuries in pets. Further study in the area of physical therapy led to Dr Laura completing the Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner course through the University of Tennessee. 

DR SHAAN MOCKE

Rehab Veterinarian

Dr. Shaan is a qualified Veterinarian who graduated from Massey University in New Zealand in 2018. Driven by a passion for supporting animals through all stages of life, she has pursued specialised training in animal biomechanical medicine, encompassing osteopathy, chiropractic techniques, and laser therapy.

​

Her dedication to enhancing quality of life for animals led her to focus on rehabilitation and physical therapy, especially for those recovering from injuries, dealing with chronic pain, or facing age-related challenges. Dr. Shaan finds it deeply rewarding to collaborate with pet owners and fellow veterinary professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes for each animal.

Dr. Shaan’s love for animals started in her childhood in South Africa, and she’s carried this passion throughout her life. She shares her home with her border collie Piper, a mini dachshund called Annie, two French bulldogs (Iggy and Bluey), and a tabby cat called Merlin. 

RACHAEL VARCOE

Rachael has recently joined the Rebound Pet Rehab team, bringing with her a strong background in canine rehabilitation and a passion for helping pets regain confidence and mobility.

​

She holds a Bachelor of Animal Science from Massey University (NZ), and further specialised with a Certificate in Canine Hydrotherapy through K9HS (UK) in 2022. Rachael has been working as a canine hydrotherapist in New Zealand before for the past 5 years before relocating to Brisbane earlier this year.

​

Rachael’s areas of interest include canine rehabilitation and behaviour, with a particular focus on neurological conditions and supporting anxious or reactive pets through their recovery journey.

​

At home, she has a sassy tortoiseshell cat named Suki, who definitely keeps life interesting!

Outside of work, Rachael enjoys travelling, trying new restaurants, outdoor adventures, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
